Point-and-Click Development |
After visiting a Games for Change salon last night, I spent some time thinking about the possibilities for developing point and click adventure games (a la king’s quest, Monkey Island, etc.). After some googling, I found these resources shared here for your benefit:
- www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/ - A new-fangled tool for creating adventure games modeled after SCUMM and SCI
- www.agidev.com/ - Site focused around older AGI based Sierra-style games (KQ1, Leisure Suit Larry 1, Police Quest 1, &c.)
- www.bripro.com/scistudio/index.php - SCI0 creation utility for making middle-era Sierra-style games (KQ4, LSL3, &c.)
- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierra’s_Creative_Interpreter - More information on SCI including SCI versions 0 through 3.
- agisci.cjb.net/ - Even more SCI and AGI resources.
- gamefileformats.netfirms.com/ - An archive of video game formats with descriptions and some utilities
- www.scummvm.org/ - A reverse engineered interpreter for SCUMM based games (Monkey Island, Sam & Max, &c.) also runs Westwood Studios AGI.
- scumm.mixnmojo.com/ - A site with resources for SCUMM developers
